'Scandal' season 4 spoilers: Olivia Pope's team will grow in finale episodes 21 and 22

Scandal season 4 ABC

WIthonly two episodes left for season 4 of "Scandal," fans of the show might think that everything is safe and sound but a new report from TVLine indicates that the season finale will see a new character added to Oliva Pope's (Kerry Washinton) team and change things up before all has been said and done.

Over the past weekend the producers and show runners have been tight-lipped about the season finale and series creator Shonda Rhimes has a track record of suddenly shocking fans of her shows. Just recently she and her team killed off the immensely popular Dr. Derek Shephard (Patrick Dempsey) in her other popular show, "Grey's Anatomy."

With no official word from the producers and their penchant for surprises, it was up to the cast and crew to give the fans a few bites on what to expect with the last episode of the season. Kerry Washington has turned to Twitter to announce they were wrapping up the season finale.

"Today we are filming on Sunday to get this Scandal finale shot for you Gladiators because it's handled," read her post. This was then followed by tweets showing behind-the-scenes images of the cast and crew.

This was later followed by a report from TVLine indicating Oliva Pope will be hiring a new Gladiator for "Olivia Pope & Associates" now that two of her former employees have left. On the other end of the spectrum, Liv seems to have someone to fill in the position left vacant by Harrison's death and Abby's resignation.

TVLine continues to report that the new Gladiator will be a familiar face to fans of the show.

The finale, episode 22 "You Can't Take Command," will air on May 14 while the penultimate episode, "A Few Good Women," is scheduled to air on May 7, following the show's one-week hiatus that was given to make room for the two-hour "Grey's Anatomy" special.
