AT&T hasn't exactly been that fast and religious when it comes to releasing over-the-air (OTA) update for their devices' operating systems (OS) but as always, it is better late than never.
Despite skipping the Android 5.0 Lollipop for their Samsung Tab 4.0 Long-Term Evolution (LTE) devices, the mobile carrier is reportedly set to release an Android 5.1 Lollipop update soon for its clients.
The Android 5.1 Lollipop update is, of course, one of the biggest updates that the tablet stands to get, something which will come with the new Material Design user interface and new quick settings menu, among others. Much of the new features of the said update can be found via the AT&T main website.
In all, the OTA will carry a lot of new enhancements, bug fixes, and improvements which should make the Android experience a whole lot better soon.
The OS will be rolled out in stages, meaning it will not be released simultaneously. Hence, it would be best to constantly check your device for updates. This is also assuming that owners are still running on the previous Android 4.4. Kitkat.
In the event that some users may have modified their tablet, it may be wise to restore it to its original state. If not, the updates will not arrive and chances are affected users will have to resort to an alternative manner to apply the new OTA update.
Aside from the mentioned features above, expect the Android 5.1 Lollipop to come with less bloatware, improved memory management, multi-tasking management, and notifications.
The update will also reportedly allow for better management of the tablets' connectivity (WiFi and Bluetooth), something users may have been having issues with.
The update is around 1GB large so it would be best to make sure that you have an amply charged tablet (at least 50%) and a reliable Internet connection so that it can be successfully downloaded.
Seeing how fast AT&T comes out with updates, this should be an interesting one and hopefully live up to its word of offering users a better way to user their tablets.
