Samsung Galaxy Note 6 specs rumors: To feature 256GB storage?

Although Samsung has just released a new premium smartphone in the Galaxy S7, fans are already expecting the South Korea-based tech giant to launch the Galaxy Note 6.

New rumors have raised expectations as it is speculated that the upcoming Galaxy Note will feature a massive 256GB storage option for the device.

While the specs sheet for the Galaxy Note 6 is still unclear, observers are saying that there may already be hints at what the upcoming iteration will feature when it is released.

According to Phone Arena, Samsung announced that the company has just started its mass production of 256GB UFS 2.0 memory chips. These chips will largely be used as mobile data storage options, as Samsung hopes to "contribute to a paradigm shift within the mobile data storage market."

According to Joo Sun Choi, executive vice president, Memory Sales and Marketing, Samsung Electronics, "We are determined to push the competitive edge in premium storage line-ups – OEM NVMe SSDs, external SSDs, and UFS – by moving aggressively to enhance performance and capacity in all three markets."

Although Samsung has not revealed if these chips will feature in their upcoming flagship lineups, the hint may be in one of the integrated features of the chip itself. Samsung said that one of the primary functions of these new chips is to facilitate 4K content in high-end "large-screen mobile devices".

If the supposed specs of the Galaxy Note 6 floating online prove true, having 256GB storage certainly seems plausible. According to the IB Times, while the Galaxy Note 6 will share some similarities with the recently launched Galaxy S7, the new Galaxy Note is targeted as a business-focused smartphone and will come with better features such as 6 GB of RAM, a high-capacity battery, and may also support a phablet dock that will make the Galaxy Note 6 act like a laptop.
