Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date rumors; specs and features to expect

The Galaxy Note 4. Will the next Note get the intended upgrades? Samsung Global Site

No sooner had Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 4 than the online community started buzzing with whispers about the next Galaxy Note.

Since Samsung is inclined to launch a new Galaxy Note just before the IFA event each year in Berlin, most tech pundits are united in the belief that the Note 5 will be launched in September this year, getting out a new product just in time for the Christmas rush, and trumping any new announcements Apple might be making.

Also, since every new product launched by Samsung tops its predecessors, it is rumored that the new Note 5 will sport a 6-inch, 4K AMOLED display, an octa-core processor, and ultra-high megapixel camera. It might also be that the new Note would have at least an IP68 rating, to answer Apple's noticeable incline toward waterproofing its future devices.

Processor

Last month, Samsung announced its new 14nm Exynos 7x processor, an octa-core one with heterogenous multiprocessing technology. This means, according to Gabsoo Han, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, "Samsung's advanced 14nm FinFET process technology is undoubtedly the most advanced logic process technology in the industry."

He further said, "We expect the production of our 14nm mobile application processor to positively impact the growth of the mobile industry by enabling further performance improvements for cutting-edge smartphones."

Display

Its forerunner, the Note 4, has an AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 Quad HD resolution. However, since the new processor would have the capability to support 4k display, this will translate to Samsung being the first to incorporate a native 4k display to its smartphones. This will also mean that the Note 5 will have a resolution of 2160 x 3840, with a 743 ppi pixel density. The Note 5 will still retain its Corning Gorilla Glass display, making it dust and scratch resistant.

No news yet on what other build the Note 5 will have, and officially, the specs and configuration of this new Note will be decreed once Samsung gives out a certified announcement prior to its launch.
