"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" has been making headlines as fans look forward to their favorite pirate franchise hitting theaters for its fifth movie installment.

The film is currently casting and Disney has already lined up new cast members in addition to the main stars who will be reprising their roles.

Javier Bardem has reportedly been signed on to play the role of an antagonist in the upcoming film. While specific information has not yet been announced, Bardem may portray a ghost captain who believes that Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is responsible for his brother's death.

If the 45-year-old Spanish actor would indeed play this role, then it won't be the first time that he'd be a villain as he previously played the psychopathic assassin Anton Chigurh in the Oscar-winning movie "No Country for Old Men."  Bardem also portrayed Raoul Silva, the main villain in the 2012 James Bond movie, "Skyfall."

While the "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is not yet done with its filming, many are already asking whether Bardem's wife, Penelope Cruz, will be reprising her role as female lead Angelica.  It can be recalled that Sparrow left Cruz's character stranded on an island after she tried to kill him in the last movie, "On Stranger Tides."

Other cast members who may be signing on to the "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" include Geoffrey Rush who may again portray Barbosa, the captain of the Black Pearl pirate ship.  Orlando Bloom may also be reprising his role as Will Turner, whereas Keira Knightley has already made it clear that she will not be returning as Elizabeth Swan.  Jack Davenport, Keith Richards and Mackenzie Crook may also be joining the cast lineup, although there have been no details about their roles.

To be produced once again by Jerry Bruckeheimer, directorial duties will be taken on by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" has been slotted for a premiere on July 7, 2017.
