Google Nexus 9 with Android L: No release date yet, device to come with NVIDIA's Tegra K1 graphics chip

Speculations have continued to highlight the possibility of an upcoming Nexus 9 tablet to be released in the near future.

Although rumors first pointed towards a Nexus 8, increasing reports of the forthcoming device have begun suggesting that a Nexus 9 may be made available in the next couple of months.

Tech giant NVIDIA, for instance, has accused Samsung and Qualcomm of infringing on their graphics processors technology. Looking into the legal documents they have come up with, the company mentioned the NVIDIA Tegra K1, their newest mobile graphics chip, that have been incorporated into the Nexus 9.

"The HTC Nexus 9, expected in the third quarter of 2014, is also expected to use the Tegra K1," the document stated. It also mentioned various mobile devices that have already made use of the NVIDIA technology.

Additionally, information on the said device has now leaked, which may confirm that a Nexus 9 may be in the works and will be released soon.

Based on the leaked details, the HTC Nexus tablet will be codenamed as Volantis and will come with an 8.9-inch full HD display that boasts a 2048 x 1440 resolution.

The device was also said to be integrated with a NVIDIA Tegra K1 quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM. The Nexus 9 has also been rumored to have two storage options- the 16 or the 32 GB variant.

The tablet will also come with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 3-megapixel camera at its front. Taking on a uni-body design with front-facing speakers, the Nexus 9 is likely to run on the upcoming Android L.

There have been no official release date or prices for the Nexus 9, although its predecessors, the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 7-2013, were widely accepted and praised by the public for its inexpensive process. The Nexus 7 tablets immediately gained popularity with its starting price of $229 on the Google Play Store and had been sold out for the past months.
