Motorola proves that it is among the first to deliver when it comes to software updates. Just recently, the manufacturer announced that Android 5.1 Lollipop will be rolled out to the original Moto X 2014 as early as next week. 

"We are pleased to announce a new software update to the Moto X (1st Generation) from Motorola. This update brings the Android 5.1 Lollipop to your phone along with other improvements," Motorola announced via its official website.

It is still unclear which regions will be able to get the firmware. Media outlets infer that the update would touch down in Europe in the middle of May. Motorola has long updated its changelog for the rollout. 

It is not only the first-generation Moto X 2014 getting the update. The second-generation version of the handset will also make the jump to Android 5.1 Lollipop at the start of next week. The company will be busy with updating more of its handsets as well. 

The original Moto X 2013 is also up for an Android 5.1 Lollipop update. However, only those who live in Brazil are entitled to the software makeover. Users in the U.S. who rock this device will be able to update at a later but still undisclosed date. Customers of different U.S. carriers can expect a rollout in the offing as well. 

Android 5.1 Lollipop is an incremental update that brings fixes to bugs that were brought by the stock build of the operating system. Moto X users won't have to worry about battery drainage or sloppy Wi-Fi connectivity with the update onboard. 

Moto X 2013 owners, on the other hand, will notice changes on the device's interface as well as a whole new convenience-centric notification tray and a DND mode. They just need to keep their eyes peeled for Android 5.1 Lollipop as a download prompt should pop up soon.
