LG introduced its G4 iteration as one of the most updated premium flagships. Indeed, the latest flagship has been the first one to receive the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, outside of the Google-run Nexus lineup.

However, it seems that the South Korea-based tech giant is not resting on its laurels as it is rumored that LG is already hard at work on the next iteration in its G series. According to industry observers, LG Electronics will be opening a new level of smartphone wars when it releases the upcoming G5.

As stated by Vine Report, current speculations say the G5 may be unveiled by the first quarter of 2016. If the rumors are true, then LG fans will not have that much to wait for the launch. In addition to an early release date, it is said that the LG G5 will finally sport an all-metal unibody design, already a standard in some of LG's competitors' phones.

Meanwhile, Know Your Mobile reckoned that with LG apparently following in the steps of Apple and Samsung, the new G5 will have more robust security features, and an iris scanner is among those. LG is reportedly developing its own mobile payment system, and aside from a fingerprint scanner, the new G5 will reportedly incorporate other biometrics capture feature for better security.

As for under-the-hood specs, Crossmap reported that rumors say the G5 will be in the 5-inch to 6-inch display range and will come out with a QHD display. Meanwhile, the G5 will reportedly also be one of the first flagships to carry the new Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with a massive 4-GB RAM. It will have 32 GB of internal memory, which will apparently be expandable via microSD support.

In addition, to support the massive upgrade in its specs, the LG G5 will apparently have at least 3,000-mAh battery, though rumors say that LG is making sure to have a minimum of at least 3,300 mAh for longer standby and usage.
