Samsung has been known as one of several tech giants producing state-of-the-art smartphones, specifically the Galaxy S7. Typical in any business, many smartphone manufacturers are also vying to be on the top, like LG with their G5, boasting its modular design, which is the first to succeed in the industry. Will LG be able to succeed this time around when compared to the Galaxy S7?

The LG G5 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 are almost similar in size. If it is with regard to compactness, the S7 wins by a few millimeters. The Samsung model also boasts its glass on the back and aluminum body, while the LG phone uses an all-metal unibody design.

The Galaxy S7 is also lighter by seven grams at 152 grams, while the G5 is at 159 grams. However, Gizmag said that the LG phone has a better size-to-weight ratio.

Coming to the display aspect, the modular G5 offers a 5.3-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution with 554 ppi pixel density. The S7 offers a smaller 5.1-inch, same resolution but a higher pixel density at 577 ppi. The slight difference is barely visible to the human eye. However, the Galaxy S7 uses a better Super AMOLED screen.

Both phones have the same processor and amount of RAM, while the features such as fingerprint sensor, micorSD slot and always-on feature are present on both phones.

The U.S. release of the S7 has 32GB of internal storage, which is the same value for the single LG G5 variant. The international release of the Samsung phone is offered at 64GB and 128GB variants.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 offers a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery, bigger than the LG's removable 2,800 mAh.

The LG G5 has a feature that no other current smartphone offers: its modules. G5 owners can purchase accessories that can be attached and detached from the phone. These include the LG Cam Plus, which offers additional photography controls when taking pictures, and the B&O LG HiFi Plus that offers a Hi-Fi DAC add-on that can produce better, 32-bit quality music, which hardcore audiophiles would prefer.
