'Justice League' movie plot spoilers, cast update: Who will portray Green Lantern?

 Wikipedia

To DC Comic fans, Green Lantern has always been played by a male. With all due respect to the females out there this is not being said with discrimination intended.

To the average DC comic or Justice League reader, Green Lantern will always be known as a male character, regardless of whether he is black or white.

However, for the die-hard fans who are bound to raise some eyebrows, there is actually a female GL. So if we end up seeing a female Green Lantern in one of Zach Snyder's upcoming films, particularly in "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice," such should not be surprising.

Jessica Cruz is an unfamiliar name that has cropped up to play the part of a female Green Lantern. And the actress earlier rumored to be considered for the part was "Fast and Furious" star Michelle Rodriguez.

However, it seems that she is not interested in the role and said her piece via TMZ. To sum it all up, she said:

Stop Stealing White Superhero Roles!!

Realizing that her response may have been too general, she posted a video to further elaborate on her piece.

With that out of the way, a rumored Jessica Cruz does seem a bit controversial at this point. But if ever DC would go ahead with it, Michelle Rodriguez is certainly out of the equation. So the search for a Hispanic or Latina celebrity continues.

Either that or it could be better for DC and Warner to stick to the original Green Lantern portrayed by a male. Tyrese Gibson is vying for it and so is David Ramsey. But of course we all know that all these were immediately shot down. Ryan Reynolds? Count that out too.

So it is all remains a mystery for now though a Justice League is certainly nothing without Green Lantern.
