Apple released the second generation of iPad Pro just a few months ago, but the rumor mill already has something for the high-end tablet's next iteration. It is speculated that the iPad Pro 3 will arrive in 2018, boasting a powerful lineup of specs to make it the ultimate laptop replacement.

The Cupertino-based tech giant launched the 10.5 and 12.9-inch variants of the iPad Pro 2 last June, highlighting a new display technology and slimmer bezels. According to Value Walk, Apple can do a lot more with the iPad Pro 3 as the current version of the tablet still has a few points to improve. For starters, Apple may finally consider introducing the OLED screen panels to the 2018 iPad Pro, allowing the users to enjoy the best viewing experience.

The shift to OLED screen will give way to a pristine 4K resolution, which can work with the iPad Pro's massive screen. The 4K screen technology was already brought to the latest MacBook series, garnering positive feedback from the public.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that the iPad Pro 3 model will be the first in the flagship tablet series to sport a TrueDepth Camera. This feature was first introduced in the iPhone X handset, which allows the device to get a clear 3D map of the user's facial features. The information will then be used by the new biometric signature from Apple, the Face ID.

As reported by MacRumors, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that adding TrueDepth Camera to the 2018 iPad Pro will further raise the product's competitiveness. However, the TrueDepth feature is only expected to arrive in the top-end iPad Pro models.

Apple has no official word yet regarding the development of the iPad Pro 3. Nevertheless, the latest rumors suggest that the next generation of flagship tablet will be unveiled in mid-2018. To recall the previous releases of the iPad Pro models, Apple has no definite schedule for their launch. In November 2015, the first iPad Pro appeared, followed by the 9.7-inch version of the tablet in March 2016. The second generation iPad Pro with 10.5 and 12.9-inch sizes were launched in June this year.
