Huawei has just officially unveiled its newest entry in the flagship market, the Honor V8. However, the company also has another current flagship, the P9 lineup. How do these two differ from each other, and what are their similarities?

Dual-cam feature

Huawei surprised fans when it released the P9 flagship lineup. One of the most noted specs of the new iteration is its dual-cam setup. The lenses were co-engineered by Leica, one of the best-known names in the image capture industry.

The recently released Honor V8 enjoys the same dual-came feature. However, XDA Developers notes that the new flagship doesn't have the Leica branding, so in terms of images, the Honor V8 may have closer specs to the Huawei P9 Lite instead. Meanwhile, the two flagships both have an 8MP selfie snapper on the front.

Versions

The base model of the P9 is joined only by the P9 Lite and the P9 Plus. The Honor V8, meanwhile, has different editions of its base model. There are two display options for the flagship, with the 1080p one having an octa-core Kirin 950 chipset. There is also a top-tier model with QHD display, with a higher-end Kirin 955 chipset in it. Both versions come with 4GB of RAM. There are also 32GB and 64GB storage options.

However, although there are subtle differences, the flagships have similar features and designs. Aside from the different chipset and storage versions, both flagships have almost the same build and profile, as well as other features and options. Both the P9 lineup and the Honor V8 editions come in premium metal builds and have infrared, and fingerprint sensors. Being recent releases, the two flagships also come with Android Marshmallow onboard, layered with Huawei's new EMUI 4.1 platform.
