The Korean community, along with every Korean drama fan, was swept in marriage rumors over the week, after a netizen said "Train to Busan" stars Gong Yoo and Jung Yu Mi are getting married.

When the zombie thriller "Train to Busan" hit theaters in 2016, it took the world by storm. It launched Gong, already a legendary leading man in his home country, into an all-new global level. It also put spotlight on the film's supporting cast.

As the team enjoyed their sudden worldwide popularity, with promotions left and right, fans found love in the otherwise un-romantic film. Although their characters -- fund manager Seok-woo (Gong) and pregnant Seong-kyeong (Jung) -- were not a love team in the movie, many fans theorized that they could be a real-life couple, considering their off-screen chemistry.

The veteran actors also share the same agency, Soop Entertainment, and are very close in real life. They have been rumored to be dating since 2016.

This week though, the rumors took a sudden turn when a netizen posted on Naver, a popular Korean social media, that the two artists are scheduled to wed soon.

"There's gossip that Gong Yoo and Jung Yu Mi are getting married at the Shilla Hotel. An employee from the hotel said it," the netizen said in Korean.

It sent the East Asian nation abuzz. In South Korea, it is almost considered a mortal sin for a leading man or a male idol to date, much more to get married. It is bad for business, and Soop Entertainment wanted the rumor shut down immediately.

"It's absolutely not true that Gong Yoo and Jung Yu Mi are getting married. They are simply very good friends," Soop said in an official announcement.

The agency added that Jung is currently very busy and focused with work, indicating that she does not have time to plan a wedding.

Soop CEO Kim Jang Kyun also took to Instagram to clarify the rumors. He posted a screenshot of the netizen's post, and said in the caption, "I'll see you soon," hinting that he will see the person in court for spreading false rumors.

Apparently, though, fans would be more than happy to see their oppa (older brother) getting married. In the comments, some fans said 38-year-old Gong is already of the right age to get married. They also requested the agency to allow him to "have a happy life."
