'Final Fantasy 15' release date: new gameplay details

 Square Enix

While Square Enix has yet to reveal the official release date of "Final Fantasy 15," the members of the game development team have decided to answer several questions regarding the game on its official forums page.

One of the questions asked was about the possibility of including a gambit system just like the one featured in "Final Fantasy 12." The answer was provided by the game's lead designer and AI programmer Prasertvithyakarn Prasert, who said that the team came up with a system that allows players to choose their battle style that they can use with other players. However, he chose not to provide added details to the new system and said that they will explain them further in the coming days.

Meanwhile, another game designer and combat planner, Yuji Kenichiro, shared more ways to combat large monsters in the upcoming action role-playing game after a fan asked if they will be allowed to ride on top of a monster's back. According to Kenichiro, that action is actually an important gameplay mechanic where players can incapacitate the gigantic villains by wrecking some parts of their anatomy. Kenichiro also shared that the players can use their warp ability to be able to reach the villains' most vulnerable spot.

But while waiting for the soon-to-be-released "Final Fantasy 15," Square Enix will first release the Nintendo 3DS exclusive "Final Fantasy Explorers" outside the Japanese market beginning Jan. 26 in North America and Jan. 29 in Europe.

The action role playing game, first released in Japan on Dec. 18, 2014, comes with character job oriented battles that will be pitted against the classic monsters and summons from the long-running "Final Fantasy" video game franchise. The Western version of the game will also include Blue Mage and Samurai occupations that were released as a downloadable expansion pack in Japan.
