Season 5 of "Falling Skies" will be its last, and according to actor Noah Wyle, it will have some of the strongest episodes in the series. It is set to end on a very strong note that will see closure for all the loose plot lines and character threads.

In an interview with TVLine, Wyle stated that the showrunners and writers are trying to answer all the remaining questions and unravel the show's deep mythology in order to deliver an ending that will not only satisfy the audience but also give the cast some sense of closure regarding their individual characters.

With regard to the ending, Wyle said, "In the final analysis, we finished strong, and I'm proud of it."

The actor continued to explain that season 5 contains some of the best episodes they have ever done, which include the epic ending he has been hinting at. However, it appears that not all the characters will get to enjoy the finale.

"We thin the herd along the way," Wyle explained, indicating that some characters will die before season 5 is over. "Not everybody makes it to the finish line."

The season 4 finale of "Falling Skies" saw Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) lost in space inside an enemy spaceship after the Second Massachusetts Militia Regiment successfully destroyed the enemy alien's power core. Inside, Tom encounters yet another mysterious alien.

According to a report from the IBTimes, this alien encounter might make it difficult for the 2nd Mass to instantly believe and follow Tom Mason once he gets back on Earth. This conflict of interest might cause the group some unnecessary struggles amidst the war.

"Falling Skies" season 5 is set to premiere this June 28.
