'Dragon Ball Super' Future Trunks arc: nemesis Black may be Goku's evil side

 Akira Toriyama

With the advent of the new "Future Trunks" arc in "Dragon Ball Super," a new trailer video has been released. With this, a lot of fans are pumped up to see how this arc will go; after all, the video alone is very interesting.

From the "Battle of Gods" and "Ressurection 'F,'" this new narrative arc will now feature the return of Future Trunks. Within this arc, fans are excited to see how Trunks will face off against a new adversary, who goes by the name Black.

According to Forbes, "Dragon Ball Super" has been using a multiverse route for its latest episodes and highlights the fact that this new foe Black is somehow linked to Goku: possibly an evil alternate universe version of him. This is supported by the fact that the preview for the June 12 pilot episode, entitled "SOS from the Future! A New Black Enemy Reveals Himself!" has dropped some hints at the things fans could expect from the upcoming chapter.

The franchise, according to Australia Network News, won't reveal any happy reunions in its upcoming episodes. Instead, the arc will be focused on the far future where "Black" is considered to be a worldwide threat. As such, Bulma, Trunks's mother, has devised a new time machine to aid her son to travel back in time, seek Goku's aid and finally defeat "Black."

So far, however, Black is an enigma, but a few days back, series creator Akira Toriyama revealed that this new enemy's full name is "Goku Black," according to the same article. As such, most fans come to the conclusion that it's Goku's evil side. This speculation further gained traction after a poster of a smirking Goku was featured, according to Tech Times.

Whatever the case may be, fans only need to wait a little more until the next episode finally reveals the truth.
