'Criminal Minds' season 10 spoilers: Jennifer Love Hewitt added to cast as new special agent

Jennifer Love Hewitt will soon be taking down criminals as an FBI agent under the Behavioral Analysis Unit. CBS' "Criminal Minds" confirmed that Hewitt will be a series regular for season 10 where she will play Agent Kate Callahan, who was a former undercover FBI agent.

Showrunner Erica Messer confirmed the news in a statement: "We're thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast. Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season."

Hewitt's character may replace Alex Blake in the show, who left in the season 9 finale. This is Hewitt's first acting gig since giving birth last November and getting married to Brian Hallisay.

Hewitt is no stranger to working on TV. She's starred in "Party of Five," took the lead role in "Ghost Whisperer" and her last series was "The Client List." Her last show was cancelled without any official reason, but rumor has it that Hewitt and the producers had an issue. Apparently, Hewitt wanted husband Hallisay to have more screen time and for her pregnancy to be included in her storyline. The producers disagreed. Also, IBT reports that the low ratings of the show may have factored in the cancellation.

Meanwhile, those who will be back for "Criminal Minds" Season 10 are Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Jeanne Tripplehorn, A.J. Cook, Joe Mantegna, Matthew Gray Gubler and Kirsten Vangness.

Are you excited to see Hewitt's TV comeback? Catch"Criminal Minds" Season 10 on CBS on October 1, Wednesday at 9 p.m.
