Bethany Hamilton features in newly released Dolphin Tale 2 trailer [WATCH]

The Christian surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack and overcame the odds to pursue her dreams features in the Dolphin Tale sequel set for release this autumn.

Dolphin Tale 2 is the sequel to the original Dolphin Tale film released in 2011 and sees Harry Connick Jr, Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Morgan Freeman reprise their roles.

The sequel is out in theatres in the US on September 12 and Warners Bros have just released a new 2:30 min trailer.

Hamilton is no stranger to the big screen. Her own inspiring story of surviving a shark attack and going on to become a pro-surfer was turned into the 2011 film Soul Surfer, starring AnnaSophia Robb and Dennis Quaid.

The original Dolphin Tale revolved around the story of Winter, a dolphin rescued by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida in 2005 that had to be fitted with a prosthetic tale after losing her one when she became tangled up in rope. The sequel sees the introduction of a new baby dolphin, Hope.

Hamilton portrays herself in the film and there are glimpses of her in the trailer below:
