Batman vs Superman: Jason Momoa confirmed as Aquaman?

Speculations about Aquaman's appearance in the upcoming "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" film continues after Variety published a report in June 2014 that Jason Momoa will definitely play the half human half Atlantean character.

Rumors had been speculating about Aquaman's participation in the movie since December 2013, yet both Momoa's camp and Warner Bros. refused to shed light about the report.

Momoa is popularly known for playing the role of Khal Drogo in the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones," and the starring role of "Conan the Barbarian" in the 2011 movie.

Aquaman is rumored to join the ever-growing list of Justice League characters featured in the Zack Snyder-directed film, including Superman played by Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck's Batman, Wonder Woman portrayed by Gal Gadot, and Ray Fisher's Cyborg.

Just recently, Snyder defended Aquaman after a radio station in Detroit mocked the comic superhero on air.

The director called the radio station after the morning show hosts belittle Aquaman's powers, saying, "The cool thing is that with Aquaman, his trident -- people don't realize this -- that could actually cut the flesh of Superman, if they came in contact."

"That's a thing that's in the canon. And he's super-strong, because of course, he can exist at these super-deep depths, so when he comes up here it's like he's crazy strong. ... Not to say he's in my movie, or anything like that, he's just pretty badass -- he has the potential to be badass. That's all I'm saying," he added.

However, no confirmation has been made from Momoa or the studio.

"Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice" is scheduled to be released on March 25, 2016.

Other cast members include Amy Adams, who will reprise her role as Lois Lane in Man of Steel, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.
