'Avengers 4' spoilers: Pepper Potts to suit up as Rescue? Another hero confirmed to return

Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts in "Iron Man 3" Marvel

There is not much known about "Avengers 4" at the moment, but Gwyneth Paltrow may have just dropped a pretty considerable spoiler for her character in the form of her outfit.

The actress, who plays Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) longtime love interest Pepper Pots, recently shared behind-the-scenes videos from the set of the fourth "Avengers" installment, confirming her return to the MCU. At first, there seems to be nothing special about the posts, but upon closer inspection, it actually shows her in a motion capture suit.

Check out the screengrabs, courtesy of MCU Exchange below:

Pepper is just an ordinary character in the films. She has no superpowers like Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and is not artificially enhanced like Tony. She has only been assisting the "genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist" both in his business and superhero gig without donning the Iron Man suit save for a brief scene in "Iron Man 3" where Tony puts her in one to protect her during an attack. However, Paltrow's mocap suit gives an impression that her character will finally be piloting one in "Avengers 4."

Pepper in an Iron Man suit is not a new thing in the comics. According to Screen Rant, she sported a custom suit designed by Tony that she used under the persona of Rescue in 2009's "World's Most Wanted" storyline. With all the chaos that will happen in the next two "Avengers" films, it is predicted Tony will actually build one especially for his now-fiancee for protective measures. This would be a game-changer for Paltrow's character in the MCU.

Unfortunately, this is just a speculation for now. As plot details for "Avengers 4" are tightly kept under wraps, it is best to take this with a grain of salt. Whether or not she will don an Iron Man suit, it is great to have Pepper back after her notable absence in "Age of Ultron" and "Civil War." Hopefully, there will be an explanation to Paltrow's mocap suit in the upcoming "Infinity War."

Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie has also just confirmed the Falcon's return in "Avengers 4" via a photo of himself taking a break from filming. He and Paltrow now join confirmed returning cast members Downey Jr., Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chadwick Boseman (Ant-Man), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).

"Avengers 4" will be released in theaters on May 3, 2019.
