Attack on Titan Season 2 will definitely be out by 2016 but with regards to an actual release date currently remains under wraps.

Of course, the anime series is still preparing for a brand new season, something that will hinge on the new batch of available chapters before buckling down to work en route to the new season.

Attack on Titan Season 1 covered almost half of the already published chapters and apparently production is awaiting for new chapters from the ongoing manga to provide more coverage in season 2, which will reportedly make use of fewer filler episodes.

For the time being, there will be some spin-offs that will be released before Attack on Titan Season 2 kicks off.

The first entitled Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow was already released back in November while Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom was already released in the US last Tuesday according to Crossmap.

As a refresher, it will be recalled that during the finale of Attack on Titan Season 1 that titan-shifter Eren Yaeger negated any devious plan by Annie Leonhart. The battle was pretty costly as their joust took place in the Stohess District in the west side of Wall Sina.

In Season 2, the plot will reportedly revolve around Bertolt Hoover and Reiner Braun who will try to pick up from where Leonhart left off. They will attempt to acquire the Coordinate, something that enables the possessor Eren to take control over the Titans even against their own free will.

Other things to look forward to in Attack on Titan season 2 include the exposure of the identity of Ymir and Krista Lenz.

Ymir was formerly a titan but had eventually turned into human after consuming Marcel, the friend of Bertolt, Reiner and Annie. Lenz is Historia Reiss, the successor of the power of the Coordinate. She is also the actual daughter of Rod Reiss, the ruler of the wall.

These and more plots await followers of Attack on Titan Season 2 which debuts in 2016.
