'Arrow' season 5 spoilers, release date: New Vigilante, villain coming next season

Adrian Chase aka Vigilante DC Comics

"Arrow" season 4 ended with Team Arrow being disbanded, with most of the members going their separate ways. However, according to a report from Deadline the series will see Team Arrow gain a brand-new ally with the addition of Adrian Chase aka the Vigilante.

According to the report, the character is going to be played by "Chicago PD" actor Josh Segarra. At the time being it is pointed out that Adrian Chase will be allying himself with Oliver Queen aka the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) but will be using the law on his side as he rises up as a district attorney, opposite Oliver, who works as the interim city mayor.

Similar to Marvel's Punisher character, Adrian Chase becomes a vigilante when his family is killed by mobsters and he is forced to take up arms, fighting a neatly fatal battle against the gangs responsible for the crime. Like Punisher, the Vigilante uses deadly methods and nearly kills most of his targets.

However, a report from Screen Rant reveals that Vigilante is also likely to become one of the main villains of season 5. Fans of the comic books will recall that Vigilante switches from a hero to a villain depending on the current iteration of the DC timeline and this may prove true with the series.

It is also pointed out that "Arrow" has introduced an ally that turned villain, particularly in season 2. It is further stated that "The Flash" did this as well, both in season 1 and season 2, with Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) in season 1 becoming Reverse Flash and Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) becoming Hunter Zolomon aka Zoom.

"Arrow" season 5 will also continue the flashbacks of the series, showcasing how Oliver finally learned how to speak Russian and how became a member of the Russian Bratva, a mystery that was first teased as far back as "Arrow" season 1.

"Arrow" season 5 will premiere this fall.
