Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE, Note 2 available now

Samsung has started pushing out the Android 4.4.2 update to the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE.

The roll out is in phases, but Vodafone users in the UK are among the ones reporting to have got their update, labelled XXUFNC8.

The  changes include white status bar icons, a transparent status bar, cloud printing and camera app shortcut on the lockscreen. 

There will be the usual bug fixes and also a camera app shortcut added to the lockscreen.  

Users should be notified of their eligibility for the OTA update via a notification message but should make sure they have at least 50% of their battery life left before starting the update.  

The Android 4.3 Jellybean update is still being rolled out to Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users and Samsung has finally begun to roll out the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat software update worldwide.

Owners with the international model of the Galaxy Note 2 will begin to receive the official firmware update beginning today. The first country to be seeded the the update is France and other countries are expected to follow suit.

Users will be notified of their eligibility for the Over-The-Air (OTA) update via a notification message. Make sure your phone battery is full or you have at least 50% of their battery life left before starting the update.

The website is reporting that that update won't be coming in May but that no exact date has been given as yet.  

Device models to start receiving it in the coming weeks are tipped by AndroidOrigin to be: International GT-N7100, China Unicom Gt-N7102, International GT-N7105, China Mobile GT-N7108, Verizon SCH-i605, US Cellular SCH-R950, AT&T SGH-i317, Bell, Rogers, SaskTel and Telus SGH-i317M, T-Mobile SGH-T889, Mobilicity, Videotron and WIND SGH-T889V, Sprint SPH-L900, China Telecom SCH-N719, NTT DoCoMo SGH-N025, KT SHV-E250K, LG U+ SHV-E250L, and SK Telecom SHV-E250S.

Meanwhile, the executive director of product management at HTC, Mo Versi, took to Twitter to confirm that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update and Sense 5.5 will be coming to users from 24 April.  

The device was launched back in December 2012 with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but was largely forgotten about after the release of the HTC One and the HTC One (M8).
