'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' news: Season 5 preview introduces new enemies from outer space

ABC and Marvel released a 17-minute sneak peek video of the television series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." The promo video is to tease fans for the premiere of the show's fifth season on the first day of December.

The fourth season ended with Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the agents being taken away by a mysterious group. Shortly afterward, it was revealed that Coulson is working on a space station indicating that the team were transported to outer space.

The video opens with the mysterious man (Joel Stoffer) who took the agents away preparing to go to work. It was revealed that the man known as Enoch is an extraterrestrial being disguising as a human. The video continues with Coulson meeting Virgil (Deniz Akdeniz) who is a member of the "True Believers." It is also revealed in the teaser trailer that the agents were transported not only to space but also to the future. The trailer introduces a new threat in the series. Virgil and his companion are instantly killed by the Vrellnexians or roaches.

There is not much plot information released for the two-hour special episode of season 5 on Dec. 1. However, fans are already aware of new characters joining the series. Entertainment Weekly released exclusive information on the show's new cast members. Most of the new characters are survivors in the place where the agents were shipped away. Pictures of actors Jeff Ward, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Coy Stewart on the set of the series surfaced online. Ward plays the character Deke, Vince as Grill, and Steward as Flint.

Joining the cast is also Russian actress Eve Harlow who will bring the character Tess to life. The number of the characters in the series is not yet established.

The premiere episodes of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will air on Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
