"Agent Carter" was recently renewed and given a second season, fulfilling the hopes of a lot of fans who were worried that the show would be cancelled after just one run. Adding more good news, actress Hayley Atwell confirmed during a Q&A panel at the Comicpalooza convention that season 2 would be two episodes longer than season 1.

According to a report from Screen Rant, the actress explained that the next season would have a total of 10 episodes. This would not only give the audience more time with the titular character and her crusade against Hydra in the late 1940s and 1950s but would also affect Marvel's release schedule for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3.

This is because "Agent Carter" serves as a filler during the mid-season break for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." According to the report from Screen Rant, the latter may have to reduce its total number of episodes to accommodate the change in schedule, or it will have to extend its mid-season hiatus until after "Agent Carter" season 2 ends.

Another option is for ABC to run the two shows simultaneously but this would force either show to change its time slot.

Very little else has been revealed about "Agent Carter" season 2. According to a report from Comic Book Movie, the next season will change locations and Peggy Carter will now operate in Los Angeles instead of New York City. The change of location will not only alter the pacing and structure of the show but it may also alter who will be starring alongside Atwell.

Season 1 saw Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Lyndsy Fonseca as Angie Martinelli, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, and Enver Gjokaj as SSR agent Daniel Sousa. None of these supporting cast members have been confirmed to return for season 2.

One thing that is for certain is that season 2 will have a lighter tone. According to Screen Rant, Atwell confirmed that her character has moved on from Steve Roger's apparent death in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and will find a new romantic interest in the upcoming season.
