World Vision is high on Christmas spirits, as they recently launched its new Alternative Gift Catalogue for Christmas 2006. In addition, the Christian charity is selling Christmas Cards again due to popular demand.

Every pack of World Vision charity cards sold, which costs £2.50, pays for a mosquito net that could save the life of a child in the developing world.

The cards will be available until 23 November, with orders dispatched within 10 days of ordering.

The Christmas Cards have been popular in schools, youth groups, churches and businesses.

15,000 packs of cards sold can benefit 15,000 children and families from the security of a mosquito net.

Last year, World Vision raised over £5 million pounds through the Alternative Gift Catalogue, which allows donors to buy surprising gifts like goats, cows, chickens and pigs to be sent to the developing world.

Donors can be flexible with their choice of gifts, as prices range from £5 to £6,000.

The Alternative Gift Catalogue is part of World Vision's carefully planned initiatives to help some of the world's poorest communities make their way out of poverty. This is because the gifts arrive in the context of World Vision's long-term development programmes.
