Michael Bay has now confirmed that he will indeed be the man directing "Transformers 5."

After months of uncertainty and a variety of rumors putting forth suggestions of who might be able to succeed Bay in the director's chair, it turns out that all the speculation may have been for naught, at least for the time being.

Bay confirmed that he will be returning to direct "Transformers 5" in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Part of the reason for why Bay has returned to direct the upcoming film is likely because he still has fun doing it as he revealed in the interview.

Bay's return to the "Transformers" franchise may be short-lived, however, as the director has also indicated that he wants the upcoming film to be the last one that he directs for the series.

Whether or not "Transformers 5" ends up being Bay's last hurrah for the series is still a mystery at this point despite the director's proclamation that it will be his final one.

Bay has previously talked about leaving the "Transformers" franchise in the past, as was pointed out in the interview, but he has thus far been unable to do so.

Fans will just have to wait and see if "Transformers 5" truly does end up as Bay's final film for the series.

In related news, "Transformers 5" will reportedly focus on two distinct storylines, according to Movie News Guide.

One of the storylines will focus on what is happening with the humans back on Earth, while the other will shed light on Optimus and the events taking place on Cybertron.

Rumors also suggest that the upcoming film will focus more on the Autobots and Decepticons as opposed to the human characters who will also be part of "Transformers 5."

"Transformers 5" is currently slated to be launched sometime in the second half of 2017.
