'Thor 3: Ragnarok' plot leads directly to 'Infinity Wars', female Thor; no trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2015

Thor: Ragnarok Marvel

"Thor: Ragnarok" won't be shown in theaters until Nov. 3, 2017 but Marvel has given small hints at what fans should expect.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" ended with Thor flying back to Asgard to find the whereabouts of the Infinity Gems and this might lead to a direct confrontation with both Loki, who now poses as Odin, and Thanos himself.

According to a report from Youth Health Mag, the events in "Thor: Ragnarok" will be very important for the MCU as its main plot involves the end of the world and the emergence of the Infinity Stones which, when collected with the Infinity Gauntlet, can give its wielder infinite power and immortality.

Jane Foster as the new female Thor Marvel Comics

Cinema Blend also points out that Chris Hemsworth might not be playing Thor forever. In the Marvel comic books, it was just recently revealed that Thor is now a female, with the hammer Mjolnir passing to Jane Foster. Jane is one of Thor's love interests in the comics. In the films, she is portrayed by actress Natalie Portman.

According to the report, it is possible that Thor might die or relinquish his powers and Jane Foster would be the one to pick it up after she proves she is worthy of carrying the hammer and its powers. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" already proved that others can carry the hammer by showing Vision, played by Paul Bettany, picking it up with ease.

Fans have speculated that these rumors might be confirmed or denied if a preview trailer is shown during this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, California but this might never come to pass. According to a report from the IBTimes, director James Gunn, the man behind "Guardians of the Galaxy," stated that Marvel has no plans of coming to the convention.

This would mark the first time that Marvel Studios wouldn't be at the Comic-Con. If the film studio is absent, then there is a very small chance that a trailer for "Thor: Ragnarok" would be unveiled.
