Switchfoot to Host 3rd Charity Surfing Event

|PIC1|Popular rock band Switchfoot will be hosting the 3rd annual 'Switchfoot Bro-Am', a charity surfing contest and concert.

The event will be held 2 June at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, California. Proceeds from concessions, sponsors, after-party, and a silent auction on 30 May will benefit Care House, a San Diego-based non-profit organisation that assists needy children and at-risk teens throughout the county.

"The [event] combines three of our favourite things: music, surfing, and San Diego," said Switchfoot's Chad Butler. "For the last two years the local community has united to make a difference in the lives of kids who are in situations they should never have to face."

In other news, Switchfoot will hit numerous Christian festivals in the US this summer, including the Ichthus Festival on 16 June in Kentucky, Alive Festival on 22 June in Ohio, Creation Northeast on 27 June in Pennsylvania, Cornerstone Festival on 29 June in Illinois, Sonshine Festival on 14 July Minnesota, Creation Northwest on 27 July in Washington, and Spirit West Coast on 8 August in California.

Switchfoot's latest album Oh! Gravity. has been critically acclaimed worldwide, with the Associated Press calling it "an outstanding record in every sense".

Their previous album The Beautiful Letdown went double-platinum in 2004.
