With the IFA 2016 commencing next week, all eyes are on what flagship products will debut at the event. For Sony Mobile, speculations suggest that a new addition, the Xperia XR, will be unveiled.

According to Android Headlines, Sony Mobile has already confirmed its attendance at the upcoming IFA 2016 in Berlin next week. The company has already sent out invites for booth unveiling and presentation at the trade show. Reportedly, one of the showcases for the event is a new addition to the Xperia X lineup, ostensibly the Xperia XR.

While Sony Mobile has yet to confirm the details, speculations on the next Xperia X flagship are already circulating, as supposed leaks on the Xperia XR's specs and details started sprouting online. Speculations suggest that the new Sony Mobile flagship seen on benchmark sites with model number F8331 is the new Xperia XR. If the supposed specs sheet turns out to be true, the Xperia XR will be added to the list of Sony Mobile flagships carrying a Snapdragon 820 chipset, paired with 3GB of RAM.

Since Sony Mobile already has the flagships specs released for its current-gen Xperia X lineups – particularly the Xperia X Performance – the Xperia XR is said to provide additional features like a more rounded design and a slimmer profile. The new flagship is also expected to be the thinnest out of the Xperia X lineup, as the Xperia XR is rumored to have a USB Type-C port.In addition, the new flagship iteration is also said to feature a dual-module LED flash for its main camera.

Meanwhile, even with the improvements, the Xperia XR is expected to come out with familiar features like a 5.1-inch display with full HD resolution, as well as the same camera setups for its main shooter and selfie camera.
