Selena Gomez treated Hillsong Young and Free concertgoers to a surprise performance last week.

Gomez, who is a Hillsong regular, took to the stage alongside Hillsong's Young and Free worship band at LA's Belasco Theatre to give the audience a live rendition of her song Nobody.

Her appearance on stage was met with loud cheers and she took a moment to thank Young and Free, the Christian band and youth movement which forms part of Hillsong's Australian branch, for inviting her to perform. Before she began to sing, Gomez said: "Tonight is more than a concert, it's more than Hillsong, it's more than me coming on stage to sing a song for you. It's about a relationship that is greater than anything."

In response to a tweet from a fan on the inspiration behind the song, Gomez revealed that the lyrics were about God. Writing back in October, "God. Nobody is about him."

In the second verse of Nobody, which comes from Gomez's most recent album, Revival, she sings: "No oxygen, could barely breathe. My darkest sin, you've raised release. And it's all because of you, all because of you. I don't know what it is, but you've pulled me in."

The singer and actress's involvement with Hillsong church is nothing new. Gomez has previously shared photos from Hillsong services and attended Bible study groups organised by the church with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.

The Same Old Love singer and star of Spring Breakers posted a picture on her Instagram account of herself standing in front of Young and Free's Youth Revival posters. In the past, she has shared Bible verses with her fans on her social media accounts.

Young and Free are currently touring and have recently released a new album,Youth Revival, the follow up to their debut, We are Young and Free.
