NFL Monday Night Football will feature a big game between the New York Giants and the Cincinnati Bengals tonight. Both teams need the win so expect this to be an intense encounter between two sides with postseason ambitions. Both teams will want to win today to keep them in contention in their respective divisions.

The Bengals come into the game on 3-4-1 and currently lie third in the AFC North. A win would leapfrog them above the 4-5 Pittsburgh Steelers into second, and their next goal would be to catch the 5-4 Baltimore Ravens.

So it would make a huge difference if the Bengals could get back to an even record here today with the win, rather than drop back to 3-5-1 which would leave them with a lot to do to compete with the Ravens as the season moves towards the business end of the season.

The Giants meanwhile are on 5-3 and are currently in second in the NFC East division, just marginally ahead of the 5-3-1 Washington Redskins.

The Cowboys are way out front with an 8-1 record in the division, but the Giants will want to win to keep in touch with them, knowing that things can change quickly within a few weeks if they can keep pressure up on Dallas.

Earlier this week on NFL Thursday Night Football the Baltimore Ravens claimed an easy win over the terrible Cleveland Browns.

That 28-7 result in favor of the Ravens condemned the Browns to their tenth loss of the season, and left them still waiting to taste victory this season.

The Browns will be disappointed somewhat as they managed to go in at half time 7-6 up and surely would have been hoping to keep things tight and try and snatch a close win on the road in Maryland.

However, those dreams were quickly wiped out once the second half started as the Ravens scored 15 unanswered points in the third quarter following by seven more in the final quarter to win 28-7 and move to a 5-4 record.

Even though we could pick apart that game and find all sorts of things wrong with the Ravens performance, they will at least be happy about their defensive work on Thursday night.

Yes, they were only playing the Cleveland Browns - the worst team in the entire NFL this season - but still what they achieved was impressive, and held the Browns to just 144 total yards at just 3 yards per play.

The Ravens secured four sacks through the game, and took away the ball three times.

However, Baltimore will be hoping that quarterback Joe Flacco can improve as the season continues, and his inconsistency is being reflected in all the Ravens' offensive work.

Flacco was better in the second half than the first, and Baltimore will know he must continue to build on that second half showing in the coming weeks if they are to stand a chance at making any significant impact on the postseason.
