PlayStation Plus members should get ready for some great treats from Sony this holiday season as it is releasing a handful of free games to the company's preferred gamers.
PlayStation Plus is a membership program by Sony that gives paying members access to a monthly selection of free games and perks such as discounted prices on PlayStation titles. It costs $9.99 for a one-month membership, $17.99 for a three-month membership and $49.99 for a 12-month membership.
PlayStation also offers a 14-day free trial for users who want to test run the offer first.
As early as halfway through the last month of 2015, members of PlayStation Plus already have their eyes set on January 2016, as PlayStation community forums are flooded with rumours of free titles for January 2016.
One of the titles mentioned was "Watch Dogs," an open-world third-person shooting game that IGN reports has a rating of 8.4 out of 10.
"Nitro+ Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel" is also reported to be part of the January line-up for PlayStation Plus members, and will most probably arrive by Jan. 5, 2016. Other titles in talks are "Amplitude" for PS4, "Ragnarok Odyssey Ace" for PS3, and "Grim Fandango Remastered" and "Senran Kagura Shinobi Versus" for Playstation Vita.
In a blog post, Sony also announced a six games to be made available for free download this month. The line-up of titles includes "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" (for PS3), "Freedom Wars" (PS Vita), "Gauntlet: Slayer Edition" (PS4), "King's Quest — Chapter 1: A Knight to Remember" (PS4), "Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken" (PS Vita), and "SSX" (PS3).
"Gauntlet: Slayer Edition" is a game for PS4 which features a series of adventures through dungeons that can either be conquered alone or with friends. "A Knight to Remember" is the first chapter of the critically-acclaimed game, "King's Quest," that brings players through the life of King Graham in his quest to become a knight of Daventry.
