In the "Persona 5" Web page, the game is listed with a vague 2015 release, with no specific dates mentioned. The indefinite date has led hardcore fans of the series to wonderi if they'd be seeing the new title late in the year. However, rumors are circulating that game developer Atlus is gearing up for a major announcement at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

E3 is an annual trade show sponsored by the Entertainment Software Association for the video game industry. In the convention, different companies and gaming giants showcase both their best and upcoming releases to ignite interest in their products or line ups. This year's E3 convention is going to be held on June 16 and will end on June 18. The venue for the event will be the Los Angeles Convention Center in California.

The next "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona" title revolves around the life of a high school boy in somewhat delinquent circumstances.

According to game director Katsura Hashino, as quoted by Gematsu, "This time around, though, the protagonists of Persona 5 themselves are on the run for doing what they think is right after something happens completely out of the blue. That mixture of thrills and not-so-larger-than-life cast of characters is what composes the idea of 'academy juveniles' for us."

Players will have to face varying degrees of the environments depending on the plot and theme, and must also battle on randomly-generated locations. As with previous titles, armaments for each player will include their Personas and two conventional types, a gun and a melee weapon

As part of the big announcement, it was rumoured that Atlus will reveal a new set of playable characters, giving details on their backstories and how they tie up with the main protagonist in the series. It was also reported that the developer will likely announce feature changes to its multiplayer mode.
