NBA 2015 free agent rumors: Jeremy Lin next contract could be a problem

What lies ahead for current Los Angeles Laker Jeremy Lin?

Lin, who is best tied up with the moniker 'Linsanity', is expected to be among the free agents available come the end of the current NBA season. However his future doesn't look promising especially if he is valued at a high price.

Lin can earn somewhere between $4.5 to $5.5 million by season's end, way above the NBA average salary of about $3,9++,+++. But the real question here is on whether any team would invest on Lin especially with his faltering (and deprived?) performance in Hollywood.

Lin had his best moments with the Knicks and a bit with the Houston Rockets. There were high expectations from the former Harvard University standout but sadly Lin has barely had the chance.

Compounding his problems was his disagreement with Kobe Bryant and failing to blend in well with coach Byron Scott's system. Lin was originally a starter for the Lakers but the vastly improved playmaking of Jordan Clarkson has relegated the Asian-American to the bench.

Lin had a chance to reclaim the starting role but Scott demoted him once again after his previous games where turnovers seemed to have done him in.

Whatever the case, the Lakers are expected to miss the playoffs for the second year in a row and player changes are expected. Headlining that is Lin who may have a hard time latching on to another team with his fat contract.

Making it harder is the fact that Lin may have to deal with the likes of Rajon Rondo and Goran Dragic among others in free agency. But this would all depend on whether they would decide to stick with their current teams.

Regardless, a lot of names are expected to hit free agency and that is a reality that Lin may have to deal with once the 2014-15 NBA season comes to an end. But one thing is for sure, he is not expected to stay in Hollywood after this season.
