Starting in 2008, Moorlands College in Christchurch, Dorset is launching an exciting new Children and Schools Work option for students studying for a BA or BA (Hons) in Applied Theology.

Launched in the diamond jubilee year of Moorlands College, the Children and Schools Work option will add to five existing areas of specialised study in Youth and Community Work, Community and Family studies, Evangelism, Pastoral and Cross Cultural studies.

The BA or BA (Hons) in Applied Theology degree will offer specialised studies in all aspects of the biblical, theological and contemporary concepts of childhood and education. In addition, prospective students will have excellent opportunities to have practical hands-on training in educational settings.

Colin Bennett, Deputy Principal at Moorlands and the Course co-ordinator, explains, " We know that every child does matter to God. Therefore, we are passionate that the training and learning we offer at Moorlands is accessible to all those who want to share with us in the exciting adventure of communicating this truth."

He said that the college would partner with a number of different organisations in providing the most effective tools and resources for working with children in their schools, churches and communities.

"I'm sure this new track will further enhance the reputation Moorlands already has in this field for effectively integrating theology with practical and professional studies," he said.

Students will be able to take the course either as a full-time college-based student or as a placement-based student, with the opportunity to access this high quality training alongside work in a school, church or voluntary organisation.

Moorlands College will be promoting this new addition to our BA course at the Children's Ministry Conference in Eastbourne from the 25 -27 January 2008.
