|PIC1|Gospel legends Martha Munizzi and Canton Jones will headline the Barbados Gospelfest AWESOME 2007, as the event celebrates its 15th year.

Dedicated to Barbados, the Caribbean and the international community, the Barbados Gospelfest will take place 19-27 May, 2007.

The event is known to maintain a standard of exellence, and has become a vital festival fixture for the region at large, as it features top local, regional and international gospel talent.

Over the years, the international and regional artists that have performed at the event include Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Alvin Slaughter, Tramline Hawkins, Candi Staton, Harrella Goodwin, the late Ras Shorty I of Trinidad and Tobago, Richard Smallwood & Vision, Keith Staten and Shine the Light.

Gospelfest (Barbados) Inc. aims, to be a festival that promotes 'the life changing impact of the Holy Spirit in all persons who make contact with the event.'

Established in 1993 by the Barbados Tourist Board (BTB), the festival was the brainchild of the then Minister of Tourism Wes Hall, now Rev. Wes Hall. The first event was a joint production between the Barbados Tourist Board and Mr. Alvin Jones of the USA.
