Despite previous rumors of "Married at First Sight" getting canceled due to high divorce rates and complaints from viewers concerning the overall moral standing of the show, the FYI network has decided to push through with a third season but will bring about a few changes to the series' formula.

According to a report from People, the first major change will be the show's location. Whereas previous seasons were set in New York, the third season will now take place in Atlanta, Georgia. This may create a different dynamic not only due to cultural differences in a different city but also due to economic differences from New York.

Season 3 will also feature longer episodes. Instead of running for just one hour, each episode will now run for an hour and 15 minutes. No further explanation was given as to why the series has been extended but it is likely due to the FYI network making further adjustments to their television lineup as some shows get renewed and others canceled.

The third season will also premiere much earlier than previous seasons. Season 1 premiered on July 8 while season 2 premiered on March 17. "Married at First Sight" season 3 will step away from the late Spring-mid Summer launch and will instead premiere this upcoming Dec. 1.

"Married at First Sight" is a reality show that pairs strangers together to get married the day they meet. The newly wed strangers will then spend the rest of the season testing their relationship and by the end of the season will decide whether they will stay married or get divorced.

Each pairing is selected carefully by four specialists: spiritual advisor Greg Epstein, sexologist Dr. Logan Levkoff, sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz and psychologist Dr. Joseph Cilona. This ensures that the pairs are compatible to begin with, at least based on their preferrences, hobbies and personalities.
