Operation Mobilisation's new ministry ship and the world’s largest floating book fair, Logos Hope, arrives in London this week for its first ever call to the capital.

The 12,000 tonne ship has already welcomed tens of thousands of people aboard in Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff. In London, it will be docked at Canary Wharf from 12 to 28 June.

Visitors will be invited to browse through the 6,000 educational books in the book fair as well as take part in seminars and behind-the-scenes tours. New Evangelical Alliance General Director Steve Clifford will lead a teachers’ conference on board on Saturday, while Stagecoach co-founder Brian Souter will share about faith in the business world next Thursday.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet some of the 350-strong crew. Drawing from over 40 countries, the crew is made up entirely of volunteers, with even the captain and officers receiving no salary. They serve on board for free as a practical expression of their Christian faith.

The visit to the capital of Logos Hope follows in the footsteps of OM’s other ministry vessels, Doulos and Logos II.

Amy Walker, Logos Hope’s Project Coordinator from Sydney, Australia, encouraged the capital’s Christians to make the most of the ship’s visit.

“We’re bringing this ship to London because we can really see that it is a city of need,” she said.

“We want the local church to use the ship as a tool to reach out to their local communities, their families, their friends, the unchurched people they know.

“We want to see lives changed and hearts transformed by the power of the Gospel and we just want London to know that God is the God of this city.”
