Justin Bieber says he was NOT comparing himself to God

Justin Bieber has said he was not comparing himself to God when he posted a picture of himself on Instagram asleep in bed with the caption: "And on the 7th day."

The super celebrity has slammed media who suggested he was claiming to be God.

"People love to twist what was meant for good and maybe it was my fault by not explaining my thought correctly. You can think the worst about me but never ever want people to think I compare myself to The MOST HIGH," he posted.

He changed the caption on the original post to read: "And on the 7th day..... AND MY GOODNESS I WAS MAKING A REFERENCE, I AM NOT COMPARING MYSELF TO GOD IM THE FARTHEST THING FROM!!!! IT WAS MY WAY OF SAYING HOW IMPORTANT REST IS.. WHEN THERE IS NOTHING TO PICK AT ME FOR YOU MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING BUT I GET IT YOU NEED RATINGS AND TRACTION YOUR BLOGS. But if truthfully if you were offended it was in no way shape or form me comparing myself to the most high."

And then he repeated this again in another post.

Perez Hilton and the Daily Mail were among those who reported the Instragram picture.

The Daily Mail story headline read: "'And on the 7th day...' Justin Bieber compares himself to God as he posts a shirtless snap in bed."

Originally, the caption simply read: "And on the 7th day." This is a reference to the story of Creation in Genesis, where God rested on the Sabbath after creating the world.

Bieber's correction makes it clear he had not been comparing himself to God, but had been referring to his decision to rest for a day after a hard working week.

He then made it doubly clear it in another Instagram post:

And he effectively accused London's Daily Mail and Perez Hilton of "twisting what was meant for good".

Justin Bieber is currenly on his Purpose World Tour and is performing at the O2 in November.
