Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas recently released his new book called "Think Better, Live Better," which hopes to encourage readers to exercise positive thinking in order to improve their lives.

"How you think determines how you live. Many people are being held back by wrong mindsets. You can't think negative, and live a positive life," Osteen says in in a preview video about his book, according to The Christian Post. "I'll show you how to delete the wrong thoughts, and program your mind for the victorious life that belongs to you."

To further promote his book, Osteen posted a message about it on his Facebook page. He told his followers that people need to trust God's promises so they can enjoy their lives. "What God has promised you, He will bring to pass. You may not see a way, but God has a way. If you will be the best that you can be, right where you are, God will get you to where He wants you to be," Osteen writes.

Osteen is known for his positive teachings. No matter how bleak life might get, the megachurch pastor always chooses to look at the glass half full. When he was earlier criticised for ignoring hot-button issues, Osteen defended his ministry by saying everybody has their own calling to fulfill.

Personally, Osteen says he is not someone who deals with politically controversial issues. "I have friends who are very political. They're pastors and that's what their thing is. But I think sometimes, in the church world, we can take one issue and make it really, really big and it can turn people off where there are many bigger issues. That's why I don't like to be defined by one thing," he told WBUR's "Here & Now" radio program.

"You know, our message is about lifting people up, helping them fulfill their destiny, helping them to forgive in a tough time, how to make it through this life when life tries to push you down," Osteen added.
