'House of Cards' season 4 spoilers: Zoe Barnes's death recalled

Frank and Claire Underwood in House of Cards Netflix

A previous report pointed out the grim reminder of Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) past crimes in one of the trailers for "House of Cards" season 4, and now the latest promo trailer does it again. But this time it specifically points out the one crime that may affect Frank's presidential campaign.

As reported by E! Online, the trailer starts with a shot of a bouquet of flowers laid on a set of train tracks, instantly reminding fans of how Frank murdered journalist Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) in the premiere episode of season 2. The camera then pulls up to reveal a campaign poster for Frank Underwood.

The poster is emblazoned with the motto "Putting America Back on Track," which is seen as a dark but cheeky take on the past events. However, fans also speculate that this is a teaser of the troubles that will begin to plague Frank's rule and his eventual future in season 4.

Fans of the original U.K. series, which this one is loosely based on, ends tragically for Frank and the information surrounding Zoe Barnes' death opens the series of events leading to his downfall. It is unclear if this is the same plot structure that the Netflix series will follow but the promo teaser does hint that it is possible.

A report from Collider points out that the poster seen in the trailer gives a different take on the same joke as there is a different poster with the slogan "Pushing America Forward," again referrencing how Frank killed Barnes by pushing her in front of a moving train.

The report also points out that season 4 may bring about the final showdown between Frank and his wife Claire (Robin Wright). It is widely speculated that the latter will use her knowledge of all his crimes and secrets to her advantage, eventually leading to Frank's defeat and demise.

"House of Cards" season 4 premieres this March 4.
