The Marylebone Project Day Centre, part of London's largest women-only hostel, is launching a new art exhibition this weekend in London.

|PIC1|Entitled 'Your Place in London', the art exhibition, funded by Westminster Arts, will go on display on Saturday in St Pancras Church, London.

The Marylebone Project is promoting that the exhibition is different to any standard display, and will display the work of ten women who came to the Marylebone Day centre for many different reasons.

Some were sleeping rough on the streets, others were experiencing problems with their housing and needed advice. Some have mental health issues, whilst some are living in the community and simply feel isolated and want a space in which they meet other women and feel they belong.

Through the exhibition the women of Church Army's Marylebone Project have come together "to express their identity, and pleasure, sadness and love through art".

The exhibition is looking to show the diversity of cultural backgrounds and experience of the group, and hopes to be art that everyone can easily relate to.

The women's art work shows their personal views and perceptions of London. In creating the work for the exhibition, the women explored what they liked and didn't' like about the city, as well as their wishes and dreams connected to it.

"Working towards the exhibition has been a great motivation for the women; giving them a sense of pride in their ability and creativity. The process they have been through has challenged both their perception of themselves and what they can achieve-the results of which are truly amazing" said Maria Hagi-Pavli the projects Day Centre Manager.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th November from 12noon- 5pm and features painting, drawing, mono printing, collage and sculptures.
