ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" is bringing sexy and humor back when the medical drama returns for season 12.

Jason George, who plays Dr. Ben Warren in the series, told PEOPLE that the show's prognosis for the upcoming installment was good and that the writers made "extra effort" to deliver something "new" and "fresh" for the fans.

"They've hit reboot almost. There's a lot of things that make it feel brand new, but it has that lightness and sense of humor that people fell in love with in the first place," he said.

The actor also revealed that the series would be bringing the "sexy" back on, as a lot of characters would be "falling into bed." He said that everyone would get "a little bit of loving," even those who were not couples in the show.

Last season finale ended with heartbreak, as fans witnessed Dr. Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) death and Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) subsequent depression. Warren said that although McDreamy's departure has put its toll on the series, the story has to proceed. That did not mean, though, that they did not miss him.

"It's different. The show has been on 12 years, but it has to change. People think they want everything to stay the same and everyone to be happy, but happy people make for boring television, ultimately."

Meanwhile, The Inquisitr reports that Lea Michele is determined to convince showrunner Shonda Rhimes to consider including her in the new season. The "Glee" star has reportedly been very vocal about her interest in the show, even bringing it up in press interviews.

She was even quoted in saying in one of her interviews with Hollywood Life that in the event Shonda called, she was ready to work at Grey-Sloan Memorial hospital and that people should "put her in scrubs" already. She even shared that she knew some medical jargons and that her mother was a nurse.

If Shonda was indeed leaning towards "a lighter and funny" season 12, then Michele's addition in the cast would be a boon to the show. For now, fans still have a few weeks to wait before the new season of Grey's Anatomy premieres on Sept. 24 on ABC.
