GoPro Hero 5 rumors: New camera pegged for early 2016 release

The latest rumors are now suggesting an early 2016 launch date for the GoPro Hero 5, and there may be recent developments that are pointing to this being the case.

Recently, GoPro made news for implementing another price cut for their Hero 4 Session camera. As recently as September, the price of the Hero4 Session stood at $300, and now, that reduction is going even further.

GoPro has now decided to drop the price of the Hero4 Session even further, and folks who want to get the camera can now have it for just $200, CNet reported.

While the news of the GoPro Hero4 Session's price dropping does not directly relate to the Hero 5, there may actually be a connection between the two.

GoPro has experienced some struggles lately and the price cut for the Hero4 Session can simply be seen as the company trying to compensate for some losses, but it could also be something more. The latest price cut for the Hero4 Session may in reality be the company's way of trying to clear the way for a new release, which in this case would be the Hero 5.

By trying to offload as many of their old units as they can this holiday season, GoPro could effectively provide a better platform for the Hero 5 when it is indeed ready to launch, and that wait may not be that long either.

According to Bidness ETC, the GoPro Hero 5 is widely expected to be launched in early 2016. This, of course, comes at the heels of rumors suggesting that the camera was supposed to be released in October, so there's still no guarantee at this point.

The GoPro Hero 5 is also expected to be more compact than its predecessors, and it is also rumored to feature enhanced water resistant capabilities.

If the rumors prove to be true, then people will know sooner rather than later about the exact features of the GoPro Hero 5 when it is launched not too long from now.
