"The Good Wife" is back for a brand new season and this time around, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) has nothing to lose as she decides to stay out of Peter's vice presidential campaign.

Last season, Alicia started and lost her own firm, won the state's attorney election but was forced to give up the position, and she bade goodbye to Will and Kalinda. Now in a new trailer for the show's seventh season, Alicia is about to start all over again.

"For the first time in my life, I don't have to answer to anyone," says Alicia.

Campaign operative Willa Eastman (Margo Martindale) turns to her and asks, "Are you saying you wouldn't be involved in your husband's campaign?"

"Yes!" Alicia exclaims.

Christine Baranski, who plays Diane Lockhart on the CBS drama, recently gave some insight into the new Alicia this season.

Speaking to Deadline, Baranski said, "Alicia is, of course, not running for office, but having a great deal of ambivalence about having to be the wife of the man that's running."

The actress added that because of the political scandal that Alicia was involved in, with all the recounted votes after the state attorney's election and her reputation being marred by that, now, she's trying to get back to a the core of her being, which is about just loving the law. Baranski said that the firm, Lockhart Agos Lee, will also be having its "share of internal turmoil" while Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) will be back, "always lurking in the shadows, wreaking havoc."

The show's new season will also bring some new faces to the cast. Aside from Martindale, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Peter Gallagher will also be joining the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gallagher will play Irving Carver, a witty and sophisticated attorney who has been sent to the firm by his client Reese Dipple (Oliver Platt). Meanwhile, Morgan will play Kalinda's replacement, Alex, a new investigator with a calm demeanor hired by Alicia.

"The Good Wife" season 7 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
