'Dragon Ball Super' spoilers: Goku and Vegeta arrive in episode 23

Dragon Ball Super Toei Animation

"Dragon Ball Super" episode 23, titled "Earth! Gohan! A Desperate Situation! Hurry back Son Goku!," will continue the Z Fighters' struggle against Tagoma and Freeza. However, as the title indicates, both Goku and Vegeta will finally arrive to lend a hand now that they are aware of Freeza's arrival on Earth.

The promotional trailer shows boxes of pizza dropping onto Whis and Beerus, a scene similar to the one in the movie "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F." This is also the scene in the film where Whis is contacted by Bulma to inform Goku and Vegeta of Freeza's arrival, prompting them to leave. It is likely episode 23 will play out in a similar fashion.

As the title suggests, Freeza will be focusing most of his attention towards Gohan given than Goku is not around. This also happened in the film adaptation but it is likely events will be further expanded in the episode, showing a more elaborate fight to torture Gohan.

Scenes then shift to depict Goku and Vegeta facing against Freeza, evidence that they will arrive on Earth before the episode ends. There is also a shot of Vegeta taking down Tagoma which is expected to go by pretty quickly. This will officially end the new plot line involving Tagoma and the resurrected Ginyu.

Freeza is then shown beginning his transformation to his "final form" and then to his golden form seen in the film. It is heavily speculated by fans that Freeza's golden form will not make its debut here as there will be time spent showcasing Goku fighting Freeza without either of them transforming into their most powerful forms.

The episode also marks the halfway point for the current saga. Goku and Vegeta's arrival marks the middle of the "Resurrection of F" movie as the rest of the run time focuses on Goku's fight against Freeza and their later struggle to turn back time to prevent the Earth's destruction. It is likely this will be paced out in several more episodes.

"Dragon Ball Super" episode 23 is set to air this Dec. 13.
