Church leaders from a broad range of backgrounds are uniting to create Mission21, the UK’s largest church planting gathering.
More than 400 people are expected to attend this event which will take place in Bath in November.
Bishop Graham Cray, leader of Fresh Expressions and speaker at the event, says: “There seems to be a growing energy around the agenda of church planting and fresh expressions.
"Mission21 will be an opportunity to draw a clearer picture of where that energy is taking us.”
The variety of names already associated with Mission21 indicate that church planting is of major interest across the church denominations in the UK. Church leaders joining the conference include Billy Kennedy of Pioneer, Pastor Agu Irukwu of Jesus House, Steve Barber of Vineyard, Martyn Atkins of the Methodist Church and Daniel Akhazemea of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Mission21 will focus on discovering what is going on in church planting across the UK, discussing people’s challenges and ideas, and discerning what the Spirit is doing in the UK today.
Experienced practitioners will facilitate varied workshop streams such as planting across cultures, planting 24/7 disciples, and planting in the city. Specialist sessions will deal with issues including re-planting the church and planting for the young.
Church planters and consultants will also meet small groups to make available their years of experience.
“Church planting is tough,” says church planter Robert Schulz, “and church planters need all the support they can get.”
