At the last meeting of the Church of Scotland Guild's National Executive committee, it was announced that Ann Bowie from Moray is to be the incoming National Convener of the Church of Scotland Guild.

Ann was born and educated in Glasgow, prior to moving north in 1967 with her late husband and family. Always very involved in church life, Ann has played a big part in the guild at local and national level and is a former group and presbyterial council convener. She is a former convener of the Guild's Programmes and Resources Committee as well as being the current National Vice Convener.

A former teacher with extensive hobbies, including her grandchildren, golf, singing and the WRVS, Ann reflects on the huge privilege of being asked to serve the Guild at the highest level: "I can fulfil the promises I made when I became a member of the Church, ever mindful of the Guild motto, 'Whose we are and Whom we serve'. I trust that during my time as National Convener I will be given the strength to serve my Master through the fellowship of this great movement."

At the same meeting, Esme Duncan from Caithness was elected as National Vice Convener. Esme, born and educated in Aberdeen , is currently working in locum ministry as a reader with the Church of Scotland, in her own church of Canisbay. Esme was formerly a teacher of English and Religious & Moral Education and served on the school staff of Scripture Union for 15 years. Esme is currently the Caithness Presbyterial Council convener and was a former national committee convener. She currently serves on the Projects and Topics Committee.
