A recent survey in the UK has revealed that 92 percent of Christians believe that the Bible is a higher authority than the law.
Conducted by Premier Christian Radio, the results were presented as part of a larger survey on the Bible and prayer.Jonathan Clark, Premier Lifeline's Manager said he saw the results as positive but urged Christians to remember the Bible instructs them to follow the laws of the land.
Clark said, "It's wonderful to know so many Christians are keen to follow the teachings of the Bible, but it's important to remember that the Bible itself instructs Christians to obey the laws of the country they live in."
Clark agreed that in some instances Christians are forced to break the law in order to keep their faith, namely in countries where practicing Christianity is illegal.
"We're privileged in the UK to have the freedom to practice our faith without breaking the law." Clark said, "For some Christians in other parts of the world, just having a relationship with God is not legal."The Premier survey also asked Christians what they consider to be the most important thing they pray for. Over 75% of voters selected family followed by 11% of voters stating their enemies were the most important prayer subject.
Clark responded, "The Bible tells us to pray for our enemies, but it isn't always an easy thing. Whether those prayers are about personal forgiveness or a broader enemy they can prove to be difficult for many Christians.
“I would suggest anyone having difficulty being about to pray for their enemies should contact Premier Lifeline, either to pray with someone or discuss the problem."
